Can the General Assembly be treated as the controlling major organ of the U.N.O.?

Hi, I have a question and I hope anyone could answer it:

Can the General Assembly be treated as the controlling major organ of the U.N.O.?

1 Answer

  1. Answer: The General Assembly is the principal deliberative organ of the UN. It considers reports of the Security Council and other organs, and considers and approves of the budget. It elects non-permanent members of the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council and the Trusteeship Council. It also jointly with the Security Council elects the Judges of the International Court of Justice and appoints the Secretary General of the UNO on the recommendation of the Security Council. It deals with all matters of policy making and can be treated as the Legislature of the UNO.
